Christopher Cant has a general chancery practice covering property, trusts, related tax (particularly Stamp Duty Land Tax) and commercial transactions.
He was called to the Bar in 1973 and is a former editor of the British Tax Encyclopaedia.
He contributes regularly to the Property Law Journal on property and stamp duty land tax issues.
His cases include:
- Lau -v- Redpalm (Groucho Club - rent review)
- Amsprop Trading Limited v Harris Distribution (head landlord seeking to enforce covenants directly against a sub-tenant)
- Dolgellau Golf Club v Hett (Court of Appeal - landlord's opposition to grant of new tenancy on ground that required for landlord's business).
