Edward Hewitt Edward was called to the Bar in October 2007 and joined 9 Stone Buildings on 1st October 2009 upon completion of his pupillage in these Chambers.

Edward has a general Chancery and commercial practice which encompasses in particular:
  • wills, trusts and contentious probate;
  • real property and landlord and tenant;
  • insolvency, both personal and corporate;
  • contractual disputes;
  • company law;
  • tax.
He undertakes advisory and drafting work in most of Chambers' practice areas and regularly appears in the county court and in the High Court at both interlocutory hearings and trials. Edward was recently led by Vivian Chapman QC in a 3-day High Court trial concerning the extent of a prescriptive easement.

Edward is a native Italian speaker and a member of the British Italian Law Association and is able to take instructions in cases with an Italian element.

Edward is the author of 'HMRC v Re Hasting-Bass: the battle begins', which will appear in the next issue of Trusts & Trustees, and is currently co-authoring the forthcoming Trust Litigation Handbook which is due to be published by Jordans later in 2010.

Edward read law at King's College London, where he graduated with a first class honours degree before going on to read for the BCL at Brasenose College, Oxford.

Whilst at University, Edward was a contributor to the Cambridge Student Law Review and an associate editor of the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal.
