Rory Brown

Overview

Rory was called to the Bar in October 2009 and commenced his tenancy at 9 Stone Buildings on 1st October 2010 upon completion of his pupillage.

Rory has a general Chancery and commercial practice which encompasses in particular:

contractual disputes;
tort;
real property;
landlord and tenant;
wills, trusts and contentious probate;
personal and corporate insolvency;
equitable remedies.

He undertakes advisory, drafting and court work in most of Chambers' practice areas, regularly appearing in the County court and in the High Court.

Rory is fluent in German and Italian and can take instructions in cases featuring either or both languages.

Prior to joining chambers, he lectured and tutored in law and advocacy. He has published articles and contributed chapters to books on various aspects of the law. Whilst in Florence, he was the Founding Editor of the European Journal of Legal Studies.

Rory’s interest in law extends beyond his commercial-chancery practice. His first book, entitled Fighting Monsters: British-American War-making and Law-Making, (2011, Hart Publishing) has just been released. It is available at: www.hartpub.co.uk/Brown.pdf.
