Majorstake Limited v. Curtis [2008] 1 A.C. 787
This is the first case concerning the operation of the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 to reach the House of Lords. In it, Edward successfully represented a tenant who wished to extend his lease under Chapter II of the 1993 Act, but whose application was opposed by the landlord on the ground that the landlord wished to redevelop premises containing the tenant’s flat. The judgment is reported at Majorstake Limited v. Curtis [2008] 1 A.C. 787. [2008] 2 W.L.R. 338 [2008] 2 All E.R. 303 [2008] 14 E.G. 102 [2008] 2 P & CR 2.
