Terms and Conditions
Unless otherwise specified on the individual barrister’s webpage on this site, from 1st February 2013, and unless otherwise agreed in writing, members of chambers offer their services and accept instructions as members of the Bar of England and Wales in accordance with the General Terms and Conditions for the Supply of Legal Services by Barristers to Solicitors in Commercial Matters, Payment Basis B, as agreed between the Commercial Bar Association (COMBAR) and the City of London Law Society.
A PDF copy of the COMBAR terms (v3 April 2018) can be downloaded from here.
Any application of the optional clauses in these terms is indicated on the website entry of individual members.
Individual members of chambers reserve the right to negotiate for different contractual terms where appropriate in all the circumstances of a particular case.
Where instructions were accepted before 31st January 2013, the Bar’s Standard Non-Contractual Terms (Annex G1 to the Bar’s Code of Conduct), including the Withdrawal of Credit Scheme 1988 will continue to apply.
The changes to the terms on which members of chambers offer their services do not impact on instructions accepted on the basis of a conditional fee agreement, damages-based agreements, publicly funded work, or on instructions received from direct access clients.
